Our philosophy
We understand that exercise, stimulation, socialization, and the freedom to play are essential for a dog’s well-being.
Our facility
Our kennels are all top of the line and custom-made for our location. Rain or shine, we have you covered. We have 6000 sq/ft of climate controlled indoor play space and huge outdoor space with plenty of shade, artificial turf and a 30’x15′ swimming pool! We use a state-of-the-art ionizer, so no harsh chemicals, chlorine nor salt. Our facility is designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for dogs of all breeds and sizes.
Our Family
Charlie and Katie Freeman own and operate Dog Daze and The Cool Dog Country Club. Charlie started Dog Daze in 2004, through a partnership with Dr. Brian King at The Pet Vet in Mount Pleasant.
Dog Daze was one of the original dog daycares in Charleston. In 2013, Charlie opened Dog Daze at its current location. Since then, Dog Daze has earned several small business awards: “Best Pet Trainer”, “Best Doggie Daycare” and “Best Dog Boarding” in several respected publications and websites in Charleston: communityvotes.com, expertise.com, “Best of” in the Charleston City Paper, The People’s Choice Awards in the Post and Courier.
Charlie graduated from Appalachian State University and Georgia K9’s Trainers Academy.
Katie has a master’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from the University of Montana. She is taking a break from the classroom to help expand the family business. Katie has served Charleston’s children with special needs at St. Andrew’s School of Math and Science and Buist Academy.
Charlie and Katie have five cool dogs: Rocket, Cosmo, Amos, Nike and Jules.

Nomad Music Foundation
The Nomad Music Foundation is a 501c3 that Charlie Co-Founded with friend and cohort Jerry Joseph in 2017. Charlie is the Director of Operations. NMF goes to post-conflict zones around the world like Iraq and Afghanistan to work with children in crisis living in UNHCR camps. NMF teaches kids about the permanence of creativity, which is to say “no one can take a song away from you” and we care enough to show up. We deliver! Empowerment through art. On the last trip to Northern Iraq, right on the Syrian border, NMF gave away 60 guitars. “Yeah, we fight terrorism and human trafficking with Bob Marley songs”, Jerry.
